We were delighted to sponsor the sixth race meeting at Meydan Racecourse on 12 January 2024. It was an exciting evening of Dubai Racing Carnival action attended by Nakheel’s guests and employees, alongside horse racing fans, who enjoyed the highly anticipated races and entertainment both on and off the track.
A highlight in Dubai’s sporting calendar, the event saw Nakheel lend the names of its developments to the nine race cards, which included Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, Como Residences and Dubai Islands.
The meeting featured twin feature races, the Al Wasl Stakes and the Lord North Handicap, both worth AED 300,000. The Al Wasl Stakes, a 1200-metre turf race, was won by Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby’s Star of Mystery, while Jamie Osborne’s British trainee, Ouzo, took first place on the Lord North Handicap, an 1800-metre turf event.
The action during the sixth meeting builds up to the 28th running of the Dubai World Cup meeting, which is worth $30.5 million and set to take place on 30 March 2024.
Nakheel continues its commitment to building happiness and prosperity through its sponsorship of major sporting events which aligns with its goals to promote health, fitness and wellbeing in Dubai.
